11/11
I am completely humbled by the power of today. 11 /11
On this day of remembrance, I have been reminded in gentle, beautiful ways about what it means to remember. To Re- Member.
First! this blog recieved some good news! We have word on Debbie Slee!
I’ve alerted her sister Jane, who some of you may remember came here this past June looking for help in tracking down a sister she had not seen since 2001.
What better day to be able to receive and give such news? Then on the day of remembrance?!
Second, remembering war and warriors for me has never been an easy experience, nor I suppose should it be. Today was no different when considering Trevor Greene, a local hero to me and so many others in BC, the DTES, and around the world in places like Japan, the UK and lately, Afghanistan.
Trever Green embodies everything that a warrior should.
- He understands the power of the pen, and has used it to weild light into dark and hidden corners of the world focusing on the homeless and vulnerable, in three languages no less.
- He understands the power of the Sword, and has answered his call of duty by joining the Canadian Armed Forces.
- He understands the power of commerce, is a published author, a respected journalist, an entrepreneur (eco-tourism), and a community volunteer consulting company.
You may also remember, along with me his latest mission.
Well today I was sent permission to post a short story written by D. who shared it with me a few weeks ago, along with this message:
Hi again,
There is a woman on this site, a nurse who reads messages directly to Trevor. She said he loves to hear from people and is encouraged by their support.

I sent my Trevor story to some families I know with children and they are now sending him an e-mail too. I’m not able to update my website at this time so the link to the revised story will not work. Here’s a copy, it is sort of my remembrance day tribute. I heard Trevor had to have another operation and there were a few complications and set backs.D.
If any of you who have been following Trevor’s progress would like to send their support please consider emailing them c/o Barb Stegman.
