Dark energy isn’t actually dark, it is simply unseen. We can’t see it, we can’t measure it by itself but we know it is there.
Each type of energy has a corresponding matter i.e. dark matter and visible matter.
Along with the dark (negative) and visible (positive) energy, is a neutral force known as Quintessence, coming from the greek “five substances” it is found everywhere.
I find it significant the Quince, is related to both the rose bush and the apple tree. The word comes from old French Cooin, which evolved from the Latin Cydonium malum from the earlier Greek Kydonin malon meaning Kydonian Apple. A product traced back through time to the very place my quest began. The coast of ancient Crete, specifically the ancient Port of Kydonia.
The rose in western culture corresponds to the Lotus of the East, and the five petaled variety is particularly sacred to the goddess. I mention all this because of the fascinating phenomena of worlds within worlds is beautifully illustrated with the example of the apple.
If you slice an apple in half, you will find a five pointed star at its center. While scholars agree the biblical fruit of knowledge resembled a loose hanging cluster of fruit similar in appearance to fig’s, the enduring image of the knowledgeable fruit is the apple, and the eternal scent of the goddess is a sweet mixture described as hovering somewhere between the scent of rose and the scent of apple blossom.
As I peel back the layers of myth, and pierce the veil of physics I discover both systems of thought are struggling to describe the same phenomena as mystics and alchemists; the expression of the living Universe through its cellular/chemical make up, a vast matrix of individual moving parts including, us.
Take a look at a single human cell any type, a skin cell, a blood cell, whatever. Notice the outer circle, the inner Proton (positively charged) the surrounding Electron (negatively charged) and the neutral Neutron. Notice the way they circle each other in the nucleus? Notice how they interact energetically? How they exchange genetic information, how they reproduce prefect replica’s of themselves?
Now pull back, and take a look at our solar system. Its outer ringed darkness, its inner aggressive, positively charged Sun, its passive, negatively charged Moon and the interactions between them and orbiting planets in little orbits of their own. Imagine if you will the energetic/chemical play between the sun and the moon, Venus and the moon and their collective lively impact on our Earth.
Are the two images so different?
Pull back further, and our solar system becomes small, as small as a single cell, and scattered across the known Universe are countless of other such systems all glowing and pulsating together much like a cluster of cells do.
As you pull your view further back, you are actually looking into the past, as all star shine projects forward in time long after the star that made it ceases to beat.
Eventually you come to the first source of light that we as a species have yet to find. Something described as the Big Bang. Scientists can measure the timing of this event to 13.7 billion years ago. Best estimate. in less than a tenth of a second a unitary principle exploded into the three forces I described earlier and began to move outwards into space. This first cause of energetic combustion set in motion the Universe we find ourselves living in, today or so the theory goes.
As the older model of Newtonian thought slams up against modern concepts of quantum physics, scientists have discovered a mystery that can not be solved by the application of logic. Somewhere between the established order of an automated or mechanical universal view of two centuries ago and the emerging quantum physics of the infinitesimally small of the last century, mankind has rediscovered magic. A level of being that defies conventional scientific thought. Scientists have found irrational equations that shouldn’t function, actually do function at the atomic level. If such equations were translated into the old physics of explaining super structures such as planetary systems and their gravitational pulling and pushing, they would be simple gibberish.
The mystery of this century is reconciling the two sides of the universal coin, that of the huge, and that of its opposite, the tiny.
The room you are sitting in right now is made up of both dark and visible matter. Everything you can perceive with your eye is made of visible matter. All that empty space between objects? That’s dark matter. You can’t see it, yet dark matter is hundreds of times more plentiful in the universe than what is visible. If I have learned nothing at all in my life I have learned this, Nature wastes nothing. Not even space. This leaves me with one conclusion, there is purpose to this invisible matter other wise not only would it not exist, it wouldn’t exist in such vast quantities.
Scientists don’t know much about it, but what they do know is that dark energy may somehow be involved in the expansion of the universe, which by the way has sped up at an unprecedented rate since the first appearance of mankind on the planet. This has been measured and verified by multiple observations into space and time through the measurement of light as it moves from the beginning of the Universe towards us.
I suggest it is a matter of species survival to fully understand how these two creative power’s work. They have shaped not only the very structure of the tiniest bits of our cellular being, but also the largest super structures so far known to mankind. I suspect that these two forces that invigorate and create everything in the known universe are the twin forces that animate even us. Imagine what we could accomplish if we could harness the dark energy that fills the space between the two of us? Imagine the potential of providing for the worlds energy needs simply by reaching out and grabbing a handful of elements out of thin air? Or to “stir the pot” to obtaining rain for drought stricken nations? As with everything, their are two sides of the coin, and with all the potential benefits of becoming master’s over matter, energy and time there is also huge potential for disaster. The image of dark energy igniting lickity split fills me with dread.
