Senator’s Aide an alleged sex monster, gets bail
Women living anywhere between Toronto and Ottawa Canada, take a good look at this guy. His name is Robert Meinzer, is 38 and resides in Ottawa. He is the subject of an intense police investigation into the brutal sexual assault of an unnamed female victim. The assault took place in early August of this year in Toronto. The reason you may not have heard much about this jaw dropping case could be due to the publication ban Robert’s lawyers were able to secure for him.

What has been reported already is that he broke in to the woman’s house, raped her, sodomized her, threatened her with scissors and threatened to release naked photos of her if she said anything, hence the extortion charge.
Police believe there may be other victims out there, too shook up to have come forward previously. The police are now requesting that other possible victims of this man come forward now. If you have had a violent encounter with him, you should know you are not alone. There is a good chance of taking another possible serial offender off the streets with your assistance. The police invite you to contact them at 416−808−1404, Crime Stoppers (anonymously) at 416−222−TIPS (8477), online at www.222tips.com, or text: TIP312 and your message to CRIMES (274637).
Meinzer was a senior aide to Senator Art Eggleton, Chair of the Standing Committee on Social Afairs and Technology, and member of the Standing Committee on National Finance. The senator promtply suspended him without pay.
“It’s a shocking allegation,” Mr. Eggleton said. “But he has a right to due process of law. It’s an allegation, not a conviction at this point.”
Well at this point they are allegations resulting in charges. Nine in total as follows:
Robert Meinzer has been charged with:
Source: police press release
1) Break and Enter with intent,
2) Assault,
3) Forcible Confinement,
4) Sexual Assault,
5) Two counts of Assault with a Weapon,
6) Suffocation,
7) Anal Intercourse,
8 ) Extortion.
Police believe there may be other victims.
“I have a reasonable belief that there may be other victims,” Det. Mike Patterson said Thursday. “I can’t get into details obviously, but, as the investigation unfolded in front of us after his arrest, we have determined that there might be further victims out there and they may be apprehensive to come forward.”
Robert Meinzer, who comes from a well entrenched Toronto area political family was granted bail by a Toronto court. His parents posted bail, when asked his mother said she didn’t know where he was but he was doing ‘fine’.
The charges are aggrevious. If true, this man shows sadistic, psychopathic tendencies. And if the evidence the police are collecting indeed does indicate there may be other women this man has preyed upon, as their press release clearly states then this guy is a serial rapist, a few rungs away from a serial killer. The only difference between the two types is time. Eventually a serial rapist – if not apprehended – will kill. Either accidentally or for the thrill of it. Being a serial predator, it’s only a matter of time before said rapist – now killer meets the definition of serial killer.
I’m not calling this pervert a serial killer, but I do feel the charges are serious, way too serious to receive bail of any amount, and I am extremely frustrated that I can’t find any new information on how the case is unfolding.
Anyone?

Holy Chao Man! Still no news on this guy. The silence is eerie. Even the National post has only two article’s about it.

What is so disturbing to me is, how are police expected to identify the other possible victims if media cannot publicize the need for them to come forward?
Arrrgh
I am also extremely concerned about the lack of info on this case. This man lives in the same neighbourhood as me…way too close for comfort. I see him on a daily basis and have not been able to get a good night sleep since hearing news of his arrest.
I just can’t believe they would let someone like this out on bail. I understand he has not been convicted yet…but having him roaming around freely around a family neighbourhood is not worth the risk. Not to mention his close proximity to a university campus…
Hi J.B. thank you for writing in. I am so sorry for your loss of a sense of safety in your own neighborhood. That is a terrible thing. I am glad you are aware of the charges against this guy. You are probably safer now being armed with knowledge of the allegations against him and what he looks like, still the loss of (your) innocence is a big price to pay. Take care of your friends, neighbors loved ones, and last but not least – yourself.
It seems as though money can buy silence. It really is about who you know. Still no word as to what has happened with this case if so please share.
The silence in this case is deafening! Let me go see what I can dig up, if anything.
I dated him for about one year and have not kept in touch (thankfully!). I have to say that I am stunned but at the same time there were definitely things that I know he did that does not surprise me that this is indeed the case.
CF How awful! If he treated you poorly as I think I sense from your comments, your information may be very valuable to prosecution. If he was abusive, mentally, emotionally or physically your words could help lay down a pattern of previous behavior. I’m pleased you are safe and he is an ex. If you feel like you’d like to testify or tell someone about your experiences please consider contacting the investigating police department. Contact info below:
416−808−1404, Crime Stoppers (anonymously) at 416−222−TIPS (8477), online at http://www.222tips.com, or text: TIP312 and your message to CRIMES (274637).
Many blessings to you,
Stay strong.
Hazel.
HAZEL – thank-you for your attention to this story.
CF…after reading your entry I would be very interested in speaking with you. Please contact myself at 416-808-1404 or use crime stoppers.
To address the silence issue…as with any investigation where there is a publication ban, information will be hard to come-by. If anything of importance to public safety arises during an investigation then a press release would be issued.
This case is currently working it’s way through the court system and will probably do so for some time.
However, as with any crime, the investigation is rarely ‘closed’ but remains fluid as evidence is presented.
I encourage anyone with information in this investgation or any other crime to come forward to any police service and report what you know.
No crime is solved and no criminals are apprehended without the support of the community
Thank you Detective for your thoughtful response. The silence is worrisome. It`s a great relief to be told by you that a press release would be forthcoming IF the public may be in danger. I truly hope CF contacts you. And I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your comments.
Sincerely,
Hazel.
He’s back in the news – two more victims have come forward
http://www.ottawasun.com/news/ottawa/2009/07/14/10132661.html
One of the early photos shown in the news, where he was drinking a bottle of beer, it was a profile shot, the news said they got it off his facebook account….well that was the same photo he used in his eharmony account. Since I saw him on eharmony I figured that was how he was finging these women and why police said early on they believe there is most likey more victims.
funny how I’ve never read anything about that, I guess these online dating sites want to protect their reputations. But women should know.
I hope he goes to jail for a very long time.
Good News!
Thanks for the update. You bring up some interesting concerns, especially about the dating sites. Yes, women should know, and beware!
Thank you for sharing CF and I hope all is well with you. I hope that you have been able to move forward and will continue to heal. Please know that you are not alone.
