Another Severed Foot Makes Six
The New Balance running shoe was found at approximately 11:30 am on the shore of the south arm of the Fraser River. A previous New Balance running shoe was found on May 22, 2008 on Kirkland Island. Investigators will be determining whether the shoes are linked. In the previous instances there has been no evidence to support foul play. In each of the previous positively identified remains it was determined that they were removed through natural processes.
This is the sixth foot to have washed up in B.C. since August 2007. Seven feet have washed up on the West coast of North America in total. In August 2008, one was found on an American beach west of Port Angeles. Four months ago, another was found off the coast of Sweden .
Eight in total or the equivilent of four pairs. From what I recal, two were matched as mates but not matched to any deceased, and one was matched to a deceadant who police say died of natural causes. Name with held.

Unbelievable…
Hello?! Anyone?! Law Enforcement, preferrably??? Please step up and figure this out…
No Kidding
Why would we bother trying to find out the reasons? The shoes are of a model sold primarily in India. The chances for RCMP or whoever to actually discover the reason “why” are slim to none. These people could have fallen into the sea near Japan for all we know.
Mike, sweetie where did you get that information? I was under the impression the Nike and New Balance shoes found were in North American sizes and manufactured in North America. I’d love to see that info if you have it. thanks.
Update:
well I had to go check this out for myself and found the following list of sneakers and manufacturers:
SOURCE
The discoveries so far:
• Foot No. 1 was found Aug. 20, 2007, on Jedediah Island in the northern Strait of Georgia. It was a male’s right foot in a Campus brand sneaker, size 12. The type of shoe was produced in 2003 and sold primarily in India.
• Foot No. 2 was found Aug. 26, 2007, on Gabriola Island, off Vancouver Island near Nanaimo. It was a male’s right foot in a Reebok sneaker, size 12. The shoe was produced in 2004 and distributed primarily in North America.
• Foot No. 3 was found Feb. 2 on Valdes Island, southeast of Nanaimo. It was a male right foot in a Nike sneaker, size 11. This Nike shoe model was sold only in Canada and the U.S. from Feb. 1 to June 30, 2003.
DNA testing has indicated it came from the same man as foot No. 5 (below).
• Foot No. 4 was found May 22 on Kirkland Island near where the Fraser River empties into the Strait of Georgia.
It was a female’s right foot in a New Balance sneaker, size 7. DNA testing has identified it as the only female foot found so far.
This type of New Balance shoe was produced in June 1999 and distributed through major retail stores.
• Foot No. 5 was found June 16 on Westham Island, southwest of Vancouver city. It was a male’s left foot in a Nike sneaker, size 11. (sold only in Canada and the US)
• Foot No. 6 was found Aug. 1 at Pysht, 30 miles west of Port Angeles in Clallam County. It was a men’s Everest brand black hiking-style shoe, size 11. The sock inside was Levi’s brand. (available online – from Ohio USA)
So I gather only ONE sneaker was made in India, the rest were manufactured and sold in the America’s. Which makes this a uniquely North American Mystery, and it falls to us (Canadians and Americans now that a shoe showed up on a US beach) – to solve it.
