Angelina feeds the World
Happy World breast-feeding week!
Further to my Topless Campaign I’ve uncovered, ‘er okay stumbled upon a true gem. Just in time for the World Breast feeding Week, artist Daniel Edwards completed a life sized statue of Angelina Jolie, naked and publicly breast feeding her twins. The work is to be installed in Norman Oklahoma, Pitts home town.
Not only is it beautiful, when I look at it I see a piece of art that will one day become an antiquity of the 21st century. I wonder if in 500 or 1000 years, will anthropologists look at Angelina and assume she’s some personification of the goddess as imagined by what was known as the ‘moderns”? They might. I wonder if perhaps they’d be right.
The artist was inspired by Angelina’s cover of W shot by Brad Pitt, breast feeding.

Watch The artist work on the sculpture and hear what he has to say about the project.
It’s sure to stir up some controversy. I watched a news clip of different people’s points of view. It was an interesting mix, a mother of a few who despite feeling Jolie wasn’t the perfect choice for the sculpture thought the subject matter was, “Just what we need”, (to nurture tolerance towards breast feeding mothers in public.) A youngish man claimed he liked it, but thought it was for adult eyes only, cut to another young man who said, What? Its a mother feeding her babies, what’s sexual about that?
Now compare Edwards treatment of Jolie, to his treatment of Octomom.
A string of babies. This piece of… can be yours for just $499.00 USD
Is Edwards illustrating concepts of what is healthy and natural as compared to obsessed and unnatural? Sort of like Innanna and her hellish counterpart Ereshkigal. Or Kore and Persephone.
More Controversy by Edwards.

Whatever the artists intent, it is quite lifelike and beautiful. If I were Brit, I’d buy it.
Then there was “HILLARY TOPLESS”, her first portrait as U.S. President. In it Hil looks regal confident and yup, topless.
“Presidential Bust of Hillary Rodham Clinton: First Woman
President of the United States of America”.
who can forget a bronzed memorial of Suri Cruise’s first poop?
So not exactly ‘topless” but evidence Suri is well fed by her Mamma.
Healthy ‘Evidence’ Of Tom And Katie’s Baby Goes On Ebay
BROOKLYN, NY (August 2006) – Bronzed baby shoes are out, and bronzed baby poop is in, for Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes as they celebrate baby’s “first poop”. The commemoration of baby Suri Cruise’s first poop strives to be the evidence of her existence for a public yet to see photos of the superstar couple’s four month old infant. Suri Cruise’s commissioned bronzed baby poop goes on display August 30th at Capla Kesting Fine Art in Brooklyn’s Williamsburg gallery district and will be offered on eBay.
Or what about the infamous Paris Hilton Autopsy, complete with removable organs and twin fetus’?

“The Paris Hilton Autopsy”
May 11 – 30 2007
Truly gruesome in its porcelain and bloodless state. Paris has never appeared more vulnerable or naked. Not even in her famous sex tape, or during any of those infamous crotch shots taken by perv paparazzi. Not even when she was being taken way in a cop car for her DUI while balling for her mother. When I saw her like that my heart broke. Seeing her like “this” turns my stomach.
However, as this was a campaign partnered with M.A.D. to warn ‘Prom Queens” the dangers of drinking and driving, I find the horror of this sculpture to be appropriate. Still, I squirm inside for Ms. Hilton while unable to take my eyes of her stone likeness.

And finally, I leave you with True beauty to meditate on.
Oprah’s Death mask.
Oprahs burial mask, is simply a beautiful object with a beautiful message :
“The Oprah Burial Mask depicts for the viewer a celebration of an inner beauty for which we could all aspire,” says gallery director David Kesting of the life-sized hollowed bust. “If we each imagined an object that represented us at our most ideal for all eternity, we might hold ourselves to the highest standards, both morally and spiritually.”
May you all have a wonderful, earthy, happy week!
